Cat Tree

We have two grandkitties, Gert and Alice. I was asked to make a cat tree for their amusement. Today, I got a good start.

Update: February 23, 2021

I made a roller thingy for the kitties to go on top of the box. I also opened a third side with  a smaller kitty hole.

Mom took a look and said, "Are you going to carpet the perch and inside the box?" So, I did.

Update: 24 Feb 2021

I primed the cat tree for future painting, perhaps by grand kids. I also added a couple of cat toys hanging from the perch.

Dream On by Henry Roe

This song was inspired by Eli, Henry Roe's little brother. Available for download and streaming on all platforms.

I transcribed it. I may have misheard some of it, but I think it is a really fine song.

Edit: I checked with Henry, and the words are corrected. Thanks, Henry.

Dream On
by Henry Roe

I’m not strong sometimes
Feel the weight I cannot breathe sometimes
So many things how come I get so tired
Mmm-mm-

Afraid to clear my eyes
‘Cause they shield me from the world outside
You’ll never get me to change my mind
Mmm-mm

So here we go
We can take it slow
Take my hand, I’m by your side
Open up your eyes to this better life
Let’s take on this roller coaster ride

Dream on
Dream on, yeah
Dream on
Dream on, yeah

I thought the fear would hide
When I trusted in the hope inside
Can’t give up I got you in my sight
In my sight

So here we go
We can take it slow
Take my hand, I’m by your side
Open up your eyes to this better life
Let’s take on this roller coaster ride

Dream on
Dream on, yeah
Dream on
Dream on, yeah

So here we go
We can take it slow
Take my hand, I’m by your side
Open up your eyes to this better life
Let’s take on this roller coaster ride

Sometimes my words get, tossed and turned and
I don’t know if you can hear me now
But if you see me, and if you hear me
Know that I will be with you, yeah

With you, oh oh oh
With you, yeah

So here we go
We can take it slow
Take my hand, I’m by your side
Open up your eyes to this better life
Let’s take on this roller coaster ride

Dream on
Oh-oh-oh. Oh-oh-oh-oh.
Dream on,
Oh-oh-oh. Oh-oh-oh-oh.

So here we go
We can take it slow
Take my hand, I’m by your side
Open up your eyes to this better life
Dream on, oh-oh-oh

I’m not strong sometimes
But that’s okay ‘cause I was born to fight
Drop my shield and open up my eyes
To you

Pet Rock

One of my granddaughters is experimenting with pets. She had a hamster, but he kept biting her, so she passed it along to her siblings. She got a Beta fish, but it just sat in one place and never moved, so she returned it for a couple of fish that moved around, and one died. She returned it to the pet store. She wants a dog, but her parents know they would end up taking care of it. So, she is thinking of a cat. They have had a cat before.

I told her that she should get a pet rock. They are much easier to take care of. In the mean time I was digging in our back yard and uncovered a rock. I washed it off and gave it a sonic cleaning. I decided to adopt it and give it a home. So I had to make a place for it. I haven't named it yet. I thought of Rocky or Stoney, but I think I'll end up naming it something else.

Edit: I decided on Cephus. It means stone.

All cleaned up and ready for its new home.

Here is the crate I built for Cephus.

Cephus likes his new crate.

He also likes it when I take him out of the crate.

I am teaching him tricks.
This is "lay down."

This one is "stay."

This is, "Take a bow."

This one is "play dead."

This is "beg."

After doing his tricks, Cephus likes to go back in his crate.

Trip to Travelers Rest

We stopped by Grandpa and Grandma Jones's graves and put flowers on the marker.

We drove through the neighborhood and saw our old house.

We drove through a tiny homes development behind our old neighborhood.

Entrance to tiny homes.
Lacy, our pet dog, is buried near the dumpster.

My First White Christmas

I woke up to my first White Christmas this morning. We got a dusting over night. It is about 16 degrees out, and snow covers the roads and most of the grass. It is just enough to let you know that it did snow. Marcia is very excited being a native of Ohio. She misses White Christmases.

About 16 degrees.

Happy Thanksgiving

Well, it is just Marcia and I here at home for Thanksgiving, but that does not keep us from being really thankful to God for all his great blessings. Even though out family is spread across three states, we love them and are thankful to God for them all. We made an apple pie for today. I cut up two huge apples while Marcia looked up a good recipe on her computer. We had to borrow a little nutmeg from the neighbors, but it all came together really well. It took about 50 minutes in the oven during which time we put together a great Thanksgiving meal, green beans, yams, Stovetop dressing, and sliced turkey from the Walmart deli. After the pie came out, I turned he heat up and we browned some rolls.

The pie cooled while we ate our diner, and then we waited another hour or so before cutting it. It was delicious. There is still 3/4 left, so we will probably give some to a neighbor.

God bless you all.

Update: Day after Thanksgiving

We finished off the left overs. Then we had another piece of pie. Talked with Dave and Phil's families via Xoom. Having a great day.

Slice of pie with ice cream.

It won't be here much longer.

Mohs Surgery on Neck

I had the stitches taken out of my eyebrow today, and then I had my neck surgery done. It took only one time to get all the basal cell carcinoma. He closed it with the kind of stitches that will not have to be removed.

Six days after surgery.

And here is the gif I made.
