I attended and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Texas. My class had 905 members.

High school was just three years when I first entered. I was in the band. In the tenth grade I played the cornet, but then I switched to tuba and made the symphonic band my junior and senior years. This picture is of my senior year. I am in the center back row.

I have never been a very good athlete (unlike my sons), but I was on the basketball team in the eighth grade. They sent me in one time where I ran around and tried to block. So ended my basketball career.

Although this is not me, it sure looks like me when for a brief period I delivered newspapers on my bike.
After college, I taught in a "Christian school" in south Georgia, 1974-75. Turns out it was one of those schools created to continue segregation. I taught Bible and math to sixth graders and English to ninth graders. We left the school after one year.
