Gold Buffalo Coin Hoax

I saw this ad today on TV and did my own math. Gold was $1502.33 an ounce today. The 14 mg of gold in this coin is worth $0.74 today. Would you pay $9.95 plus shipping and handling for a $0.74 coin? What a rip off!

Typewriter table

Over the past few days, I have planned and then built a typewriter table for Marcia. I need some way to support the two drop leaves that I had designed. I did an Internet search and finally found the perfect application at Woodcraft.com. It was a very reasonable price, too. I did a search for a local store and found one. I picked up a couple of sets and had breakfast with Marcia at IHOP.

The picture is the table not finished. I will probably stain and then polyurathane it. It has one 11 inch leaf on each side and a center drawer.
Unfinished in its new home.

Just finishing up.

Finished and at home

Baby Change Table

I have been commissioned to build a new change table for our new granddaughter (November 8?).  Isn't she cute? Taken 6/13.

Becca is looking great.  I have been making some drawings and will buy materials when I get paid. Here is a representation of what I will be building.

I will take pictures as I build it and post them.

Family Photos

Today I was cleaning out an old computer and ran across some old family photos.  I decided that I should make a page and display them for my family.  They go back to my great-grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Roe (1845-1912).  Then I have a family photo of my grandfather William Taylor Roe (1879-1941) and his family.  A second picture of WT and his wife Lenora appears to have been taken some years later. They were share-cropers in Alabama. Then I have one last picture of my parents.  They separated the next year and later divorced, so this is probably the last picture I have of them married.

My cousin, Rhonda "Roe" Hedderich, was the keeper of the Roe family Bible that she received from my Aunt Alice "T."  It had records of births, marriages, and deaths.  She copied the information and sent it to me about two years before she passed away with cancer.  We all miss her.  I put this information on the page with the pictures.  Click here to see the page.

So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, adieu . . .

After 25 years at Northwest Middle and 26 with Greenville County Schools I am calling it quits. It’s time to log off and shut down. It has been a pleasure to work with all the great teachers at Northwest. I have taught thousands of students over those 25 years there. I have even taught the children of some of my students. God is not through with me yet. Northwest, its staff, and its students will always have a place in my heart.
