Clear Creek Bridge at I-26

Today, as we were going to the Walmart, I was surprised at the progress of the Clear Creek Bridge over I-26. So, later, I drove up Clear Creek Road and parked on a side road so I could take a few pictures.

This is the approach to the bridge from the south side.

Looking over the bridge to the other side, you can see where they have spanned the north-bound lanes of I-26.

They are making real progress on the bridge. I took these pictures today from the north side approach. 

Update: October 17

The bed of the bridge is getting near the point of pouring concrete. They have almost done all the steel work, and the forms are made. They have also raised the ground level up to the level of the bridge on both ends. Here are some pictures I took today.

It looks like they are about ready to start pouring some concrete. I think they have all the rebar installed. They also have put in a gantry across the bridge.

It is a beautiful Friday with no activity. They have started to put in the forms for the guide rail. The outside has a form that will leave the look of stone facing the highway.

This is the south side approach to the bridge.

I found deer foot prints on the way up.

The road bed is completely poured.

The guard rails' skeleton is now in place.

February 18, 2021

This bridge was supposed to be finished in January and the old bridge taken down. Well, they seem to be a little behind in their work. I took these photos today. Looks like they are basically finished with the bridge. They are doing grading on both approaches.

Windy Chesterfied is in the House

My cousin Gerald, AKA GR Carver, likes to carve cowboys and Santas in his spare time. I hit him up for one of his carvings to gift to my son David who is a fan of Gerald's work.

Here he is, Windy Chesterfield. He is a little long in the tooth, but trust me, you want him on your side in any kind of scrape.

Here, I have him guarding my shave gear for tomorrow's shave.

Leg Infection

Well, I picked up an infection in my bad leg this last week. It was getting worse, so, Friday, we made a trip to the ER. They checked me out and did an ultrasound of my leg just to make sure I didn't have any blood clots. I didn't. My leg was swollen, discolored, and pretty painful. The doc said it was most likely a skin infection and prescribed two antibiotics; one is twice a day and the other is four times a day. David and his family were coming up to visit and ended up just saying hi and going back home. David took a picture of my leg do document it.

The next pictures I took Sunday evening. The antibiotics seem to be knocking this thing down. It looks a whole lot less angry than it did last Friday. Most of the pain is gone, but some swelling remains. I am going to see my surgeon on Wednesday as a follow up.

July 15, 2020

I went to the doc's today. Things are looking much better. I still have some swelling and one spot is tender. I am to finish my meds and continue to monitor things. I am scheduled to return on the 29th.

Update: August 3
Well, things were going pretty well until about July 24th. Then things went south from there. By Sunday, I had a fever and the area was red and inflamed again. My temp got up to 101.  I laid low and took lots of Advil. Monday, things had settled a bit, so I decided if it didn't get worse, I would try to make it to Wednesday's appointment with the doctor. I made it, and the doctor gave me two antibiotics for 14 days this time. After two days on the antibiotics, I was doing much better. I am hoping that this round will do the trick and banish this infection forever.

Kidney Stone Passes

On April 4, I spent a couple of hours at the ER to find out that I had a kidney stone. I had reluctantly agreed to EMS to transport me there. I was in really bad pain and did not know why. It turns out I had a 5mm stone making its way down my left ureter.

I was sent home after a shot of morphine and told to drink lots of water. I went to my urologist the following Tuesday. Then, after 10 days, I passed the stone last night just before bedtime. I measured it at 5.3mm. Praise the Lord that is over.
