Home Sweet Home

We made the move on March 26th and are settling in just fine. Today, they mowed and trimmed the yards and blew off the drives and sidewalks. We had trimmed the bushes away from the house already. Things are looking good. I got the flag out and put out some flowers, too.

This is what it looks like behind our house. See, I have the Snoopy birdhouse in the tree. I am told that yesterday there were several deer romping through the pasture in the morning. We are going to keep a lookout for them from now on. Click on the pictures to enlarge.

Moving Day, March 26

Poole's Moving and Storage did a great job moving us to North Cackalacky.

Marcia and Sandra say their good-byes.

Loading the truck.

Larry, Darrell, and his other brother, Darrell. These guys were courteous and efficient. They loaded the truck, moved us 34 miles, unload, and setup each room in about 7 hours.

Big Desk Down-Size

Today's story begins with a desk that we got from son, David. It was a big desk, and was just too big for the room it was to go in when we moved to Hendersonville.

After discussing it with Marcia, we decided that we should take six inches off the back and remove the right side drawers. So, we emptied the desk and moved it outside on this beautiful day.

Marcia was a great help in preparing for moving, clean-up and touch-up, and moving back in and setting up the newly down-sized desk. It is ready for its new home in Hendersonville now.

New Woodstock

When I originally built this house I used a 7/16 plywood. Well, even though I did my best to seal the edges from weather, Woodstock lost a couple of plies along with Snoopy's right ear. So, yesterday, I took it down an made a new Woodstock and ear. I used a piece of treated 1x4 that I sliced in half with my band saw and sanded the rough cut side. Then I traced out the patterns, cut, sanded, and repainted. The new Woodstock looks right at home. I will probably be taking this house to NC when we move.
