Ingrown Toenail Surgery

I was having trouble with the nail on my left great toe, so I found a podiatrist who was able to relieve the pressure of the ingrown nail. Now I am set for life.

On the first visit, she trimmed the nail so it was not pressing into the flesh. That relieved the pain for the time being. On the next visit, she removed about an eighth of in inch and treated the nail bed with silver nitrate so that the nail would not grow back there.

This is after she deadened the nerves on both
sides of my great toe. After about 10 minutes
she returned to finish off.

This is after the procedure was done. Now, it took
a bit to stop the blood.

After the bleeding stopped, she applied
a pressure dressing.

Next day, I soaked the foot in Epson salts.

All dried off and ready for a band-aid.

I applied Bacitracin ointment before finishing
off with a band-aid.

Blue Ridge Honor Flight

I took part of the Blue Ridge Honor Flight that took a bunch of us veterans to Washington DC to see the War Memorials. There were two Gold Star Mothers, two WW2 vets (97 and 99 years old), some Korean War vets, and a bunch of us Vietnam Vets. I got up at 5 o'clock and shaved, and Marcia drove me to the airport. We arrived around 6. After a sausage biscuit and coffee, we loaded the plane and went to DC. It was an A320 that had 32 rows of 6, and it was full. I had my own Guardian with another vet.

John, Heather, and me.
